And I will be exploring the foods that can help you to improve your sight and keep you eyes healthy. So, stay tuned and let's dive in together.
Before we dive in fully, I want to take you through the importance of the human eye, so that you can see the major reason to embrace the healthy condition of your eyes.
The Human Eye
The human eyes, unlike every other organs of the body, is the organ with the responsibility to allow for sight. The eyes by its nature is very sensitive and delicate. Hence, without the eyes, your existence on earth is not complete and cannot give you joy. So, as the other parts and organs of the body are very crucial in their functions, the eyes is not an exception. Unfortunately, so many people are too carefree and reluctant on ensuring the healthy condition of this important body organ. It is certain that because of hunger and appetite, you may decide to eat whatever that comes your way as food. But normally and health wise, it is totally wrong. So many food does not just damage your eyes, but can lead to total blindness. Now, check out these simple foods, they can help to prevent certain eye diseases and maintain eye health:
1. LEAFY VEGETABLES
WHY IS LEAFY VEGETABLES GOOD FOR THE EYE? If you are wondering why leafy vegetables should be integrated into your daily diet, the answer is here with you.
1. Leafy vegetables are highly rich in vitamins C and E, these two vitamins are needed for the protection of the eyes against damage and also to improve the health of the eyes.
2. Leafy vegetables are also rich in antioxidants, like; lutein and zeaxanthin, and these protect the macula, the part of the eye that is responsible for central vision. Hence, adding leafy vegetables to your meal can help improve your sight and keep your eye healthy.
WHY OILY FISHES ARE GOOD FOR THE EYE: Amongst other fishes, oily fish like; salmon, mackerels, trout, sardines and tuna are very good to the eye, because of the following reasons:
1. They are highly rich in omega-3 fatty acids, like; DHA and EPA, these fatty acids are highly needed for proper functioning of the retina and for the protection of the eyes against macular age-related degeneration and glaucoma, the major eye disease that affects old people.
2. The omega-3 fatty acids in oily fish also helps in tear production, thereby reducing the symptoms of eye dryness which may lead to variety of symptoms such as; stinging or burning, light sensation, blurred vision and even gritty or scratchy sensation. And these are not good to the health of the eye.
